JDF

The Job Definition Format is perhaps one of the most important data specifications to have been developed in recent years for digital production. This paper describes DTIs Liquid Media technology. Liquid Media combines several pieces, the most important of which is Ensemble. This data engine is integrated into the Caché database technology and handles the data flow management and communications between Caché databases and others, for example Oracle. Ensemble is an interface language based on Zen, a browser based application development tool that makes it possible to write very complex applications very quickly. Organisations use it to leverage existing technology investments and infrastructure because it provides a standard way to interrogate databases.
